Pressure losses due to throttles

Sum of all the pressure losses that occur at the various throttling points in a system (i.e. wherever there is a cross-section constriction).

Another type of throttle loss occurs if in a system with constant pump the speed control is undertaken via flow valves (control with throttle). The losses that result are mostly considerable, as part of the flow rate must be removed from the circuit at nominal pressure.
